Broken Hallelujah

Matthew 11:28-29 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Broken Hallelujah

“When all that I can sing is a broken Hallelujah

When my only offering is shattered praise

Still a song of adoration will rise up from these ruins

And I will worship You and give You thanks

Even when my only praise is a broken Hallelujah.”

Dear God, thank you for being our soft place to fall.  You know we have this human thing that convinces us we can go it alone – if we just do one more thing, take one more step, push one more day, we can get past the weariness.  And you know you have this God thing that knows we can’t get past it alone.  That until the weariness is given to you, it remains in our souls.  Give us the wisdom to listen well to the words of Matthew and come to you with all that wearies us.  In a grateful lean. Amen.
